What I was going to write was “fuckin’ A, it’s the Silos on youtube after all these years”…but I felt like it would be bad form to have the word fuck in my blog title. The day may come that warrants the use of the word as such, but even with all of the crap that the Congress expects us to eat, chew, and swallow, I have not yet felt the need. I did have my day on Facebook using the word fuck in my status update, but that was not a first; even children, teens, and the elderly read that! Egads man.

Actually, since nobody seems to read my Facebook updates, the news feed flying by by the milisecond as it does, here is what I posted:

Fuck you Wayne LaPierre and all of your ilk. Between the gun irrationalists and the rest of the GOP trying to make the fact of my anatomy some reason to legislate the hell outta my constitutional rights, fuck you. Saying fuck you feels offensive to me, but I’m gonna use a liberal meme and say the offensive thing is the behavior and lack of reasoning of the GOP and TEA partiers. What I’m doing is using words, not legislative action to shut people down. Our nation is being held hostage by corporate interests and lunatic fringe fear-mongering cavemen and women. I’m so tired of it. No wonder we feel defeated. I know I don’t have a million bucks spare to pay off a congressperson.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get on with the raison d’etre of this post. THE SILOS! Relief….

If you liked that, I highly recommend listening to more of their stuff. Here’s another one of my favorites:

And another, prolly the only reason I have ever wanted to know Spanish. In the meantime, you can think of me as the girl who really knew how to use the word fuck, in English.

I always have words. The trick is to quiet the mind, to let stillness house itself in my being, in the space before thought. Thought is mostly words by the time it reaches the level of my conciousness, but can I find the peace of no words, of non-doing?

I think of a couple of other posts of mine to which I turn for guidance.

I tried to sing a couple of my favorite, most powerfully comforting Sacred Harp songs, but I am not too well and my voice is shot, so I’ll settle for not singing to you right now.

I will settle for hearing my daughter (in our tiny house where every room is next to every other room so one can hear everything from room to room), I will settle for hearing her sing Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream after I played Sweet Honey in the Rock singing Wade in the Water. She has known the [former] song since she was 3 years old.

And so we keep teaching peace. And we keep fighting for the good and the right and the clear blue truth, even if no action comes of it. We wade in the troubled waters of the human heart.

I know there will be no peace for the families of the victims down in Connecticut, but I wish them peace.

This video is not for the families. This is for us. Sometimes you have to choose sides. Let not their deaths be in vain.

The naked skier, he gets me a lot of hits. Other photos of other naked skiers are out there, he was just the cheesiest one. Not like the airborne happy man with his happy penis and happy balls flying happily in the happy bright sunshine and happy abundant snow.

I can’t ski, or at least I only tried once and didn’t like it. Even just on the Bunny Hill. Funny me.

As I mentioned in my last post, it never snows any more anyway. The last big snow was in October 2011, the one that broke all sorts of records and broke all of the oaks and maples to bits.

I can’t listen to the news too much. It’s too awful. My life is as challenging as it needs to be without it. Yet one lives in the world and enjoys the car radio. One likes to read a few headlines or cannot avoid them at all.

I was involved in a Facebook thread about guns last week. In the 6 days since, each day, there has been a tragic shooting in our country. These were apparently not RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS who needed to kill a rabid raccoon running around their chicken house or who needed to euthanize a sick farm animal (as was explained to me in the comment thread). Not people intelligently and legitimately defending themselves against an aggressor (how often do we read of the gun owner who had to defend himself against an intruder?). How about the guy who killed his own kid, “accidentally?” Are hubris and stupidity accidents?

Here is what one of the people, on the aforementioned FB thread, had to say at one point:

Kids, when taught about guns and how to use them and respect them, never have accidents.
(DIRECT QUOTE, COPIED AND PASTED)

Like the EIGHT-YEAR OLD BOY at the gun show in Massachusetts in 2008. Or this 12-year old boy, one of the gun “events” I came across in the delightful headlines on my computer this week.

Idiocy, ignorance, and hubris are not accidents; they simply come along with being human.

In the meantime, here is the Happy Skier.

He makes a big X with his body which I sort of love. I think if I were a man, I might not mind this too much. If this were me skiing, I’d have my black skirt on, the only article of clothing into which I comfortably fit in my current zaftig (overweight, anemic) state. I wouldn’t wear anything underneath and the skirt could just fly up in the air like a penis and a pair of balls. My boobs would probably hit me in the face, not like the skinny naked female skiers one finds photos of on google images.

A girl can dream.
